After visiting many old churches throughout Europe, I thought I had seen it all. Then there was Antoni Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia.
From afar, the Sagrada stood up tall and above its surroundings. If or when completed, it will sit at 170 metres high making it the tallest church in the world.
Entering the Sagrada was nothing like I had seen before. The way it was sculpted and built is simply unique; giant sandstone-like pillars, carved with jagged edges; not to mention the vibrant stained glass windows that are amazingly luminous on a bright and sunny day. It was kind of a surreal experience.
Purchase your tickets to the Sagrada Familia online, in advance. You’ll get to choose your day and time slot based on what is available, then simply print your tickets and show up half an hour before your time slot on the day! It’s much better than lining up around the block, trust me!
